MANILA, Philippines — After a busy 2024 for Choco Mucho and Alas Pilipinas, Sisi Rondina focused on rehab and recovery during the holidays, bracing for the resumption of the longest PVL All-Filipino Conference this January.
Her discipline during the month-long break was evident as Rondina was relentless in leading Choco Mucho from two sets down to pull off a come-from-behind 20-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-9 win over new-look ZUS Coffee on Saturday at Philsports Arena.

“Sa isang buwan na bakasyon, nagrehab lang talaga ako kasi may tama talaga tuhod ko and wala akong ibang iniisip kundi gumaling, gumaling, gumaling kasi ang hirap na dala-dala ko siya lagi pero minindset ko na lang talaga na binigyan ko talaga ng oras yung pagre-rehab ko kahit nakakapagod,” said Rondina, who represented Alas Pilipinas in multiple bronze medal finishes in the AVC Challenge Cup and SEA V.League after leading Choco Mucho to the All-Filipino finals last year.

“Stay to the plan, lagi naman naming pinaplano kung paano namin lalaruin itong season na ito. Pinagtatrabahuhan naman and continue pa rin ako sa pagre-rehab,” she added.

Although coach Dante Alinsunurin still wants more improvement for the team, Rondina is happy to see her team overcome adversity to start the year, improving to a 4-3 record in sixth place.

“Masaya kasi sa lahat ng mga ineensayo namin lumalabas yung outcome sa laro and nailabas namin siya sa laro talaga. Alam mo yun parang imposibleng kunin yung mga bola pero mabibigla na lang kami ‘uy nataas pa,’” said the former UAAP MVP out of University of Santo Tomas.
“Itutuloy namin yun and siyempre magtatrabaho pa rin.”
Rondina and the Flying Titans seek to bring all their learnings and momentum when they battle the PLDT High Speed Hitters (4-2) on Thursday.
