Victorias City celebrated the 11th Kalamayan Festival, kicking off with a vibrant series of activities held at the City Public Plaza on December 13, 2024.
Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, representing City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, delivered an inspiring message of joy and hope for the Christmas season and officially declared the festival open.
The opening ceremony featured several exciting events, including the Parade of Christmas Tricycles, the Lantern Dance Competition, and the awarding of the PYAP Christmas Tree Making Contest winners. Rey Tuazon of PBTODA emerged as the champion of the Christmas Tricycle Competition, while Michael Doblar from MATOMCO and Ninfa Jocson Amado from CRESTODA secured second and third places, respectively.
In the Lantern Dance Competition, Los Portador De La Luz clinched first place, followed by Ang Paglaum Sang Kapawa in second and El Selencio De La Luz in third. Special awards were also given, with Mezcla De Luces winning Best in Music, Las Luces Brillantes earning Best in Lantern Handprops, Ang Paglaum Sang Kapawa receiving the Most Disciplined award, and Los Portador De La Luz being recognized for Best Choreography.
The winners of the PYAP Christmas Tree Making Contest, held during the Switch-On Ceremony on November 9, were also recognized at the event. Despite a sudden downpour, the festive spirit prevailed, and the celebration continued, showcasing the resilience and unity of Victorias City.
The 11th Kalamayan Festival will run from December 13 to 15, with exciting activities lined up for all Victoriasanons.
