The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, the marketing arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), is gearing up to host the 13th Regional Travel Fair (RTF) in General Santos City from September 27 to 29, 2024.
As one of TPB’s flagship initiatives, the RTF offers host regions a platform to showcase their unique tourism offerings in collaboration with local government units and industry stakeholders. This year, the spotlight is on the SOCCSKSARGEN region, which includes the provinces of Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, as well as the cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal, and the highly urbanized General Santos City.
SOCCSKSARGEN is celebrated for its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and untouched natural beauty. From its breathtaking mountain ranges to pristine beaches and vibrant local traditions, the region is a hidden gem waiting to be explored.
“Through each Regional Travel Fair, we remain committed to boosting domestic tourism by fostering connections among industry players and unlocking new opportunities. These events not only benefit businesses but also encourage more Filipinos to discover the wonders of our own country,” said TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “We invite everyone to join us at the 13th RTF in General Santos and experience the treasures of SOCCSKSARGEN.”
The event will kick off on September 27 with a Business-to-Business (B2B) session, bringing together local and national sellers with buyers to establish partnerships, explore travel-related business opportunities, and discuss emerging trends in the tourism industry. The session will feature over 50 buyers and 70 sellers/exhibitors, including representatives from airlines, hotels, tour operators, and provincial tourism offices from SOCCSKSARGEN.
On September 28 and 29, a Business-to-Consumer (B2C) fair will be held at SM City General Santos, offering the public exclusive discounts on travel packages, transportation tickets, accommodations, and other tourism-related products and services.
Attendees can also enjoy live performances, interactive games such as Travel Bingo, and presentations from DOT regional offices, sponsors, and local tourism stakeholders. In celebration of Tourism Month, a tourism-themed quiz bee will add a fun, educational element to the event, while local artisans will showcase their talents through product demonstrations, giving visitors a chance to experience the region’s handcrafted goods.
The 13th RTF is organized in partnership with DOT SOCCSKSARGEN, the City of General Santos, and the Province of South Cotabato, with support from 2GO, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and SM City General Santos.
