MANILA – The shear line and the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rains over parts of Northern and Eastern Luzon, the weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Quezon and the Bicol Region.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora due to the northeast monsoon.
Moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas could result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned.
The “amihan” will likewise bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos region, and the rest of Cordillera region and Central Luzon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by the easterlies.
Strong to gale winds and rough to very rough seas are expected over Northern Luzon.
PAGASA warned mariners that sea travel is risky for small seacraft (including all motor bancas of any type or tonnage) over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon (Batanes and Babuyan Islands) and the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon (Ilocos Norte).
The coastal waters in these areas may expect waves as high as 3.1 meters to 4.5 meters.
Meanwhile, Central Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to strong coastal waters
The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
