National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jimmi Santiago announced the arrest of seven Chinese nationals involved in scamming operations during operations at 16B Jhon Paul St., Multinational Village in Moonwalk, Paranaque City.
Said Chinese nationals were charged before the Paranaque Prosecutor’s Office with cases for violation of Section 4(a) of RA 11862 o Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022; Computer-related Forgery under Section 4(b) (1) of RA 10175 kilala bilang Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012; Social Engineering Schemes under Section 4(b)(1)) of R.A 12010 kilala bilang Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA) in relation to RA 10175 and (4) Republic Act 10361 otherwise known as the “Domestic Workers Act” o “Batas Kasambahay”.
Santiago said the operation stemmed from a complaint received by the NBI- Cybercrime Division (CCD) last December 11,2024.
The suspects were said to have detained the complainant’s friend and forced him to provide services against his will.
Based on the complaint, the NBI conducted the operation and rescued the victim who positively identified the suspects as invovled in scamming operations.
During the raid, the NBI confiscated multiple desktop computers, mobile phones, SIM cards, written scripts and customer ledgers.
Santiago said the desktop is being used by certain individuals for scamming operations in the raided area.
