The Senate on Monday approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 8839 granting Philippine citizenship to Li Duan Wang, a Chinese citizen whom Sen. Risa Hontiveros linked to the alleged boss of the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
On a vote of 19 for and one against, the Senate passed the House bill which also mandated Wang to take the oath of allegiance and given a certificate of naturalization.
Hontiveros said.
Hontiveros said in explaining her vote against House Bill 8839,” she added.
(Haven’t we learned from the deception of Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, or Yang Jianxin, also known as Tony Yang? Haven’t we been affected by abusive foreigners posing as Filipinos to profit from our people and tarnish our systems? Are we willing to take a chance again on someone who has hidden their questionable connections in Congress?)
Hontiveros in the plenary raised what she called “red flags” that Wang allegedly kept from Congress.
This includes his alleged role as a junket operator and his ties to Duanren Wu, said to be the “big boss” of the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
Hontiveros also said Wang also had a business in the same building where the firm linked to confessed Chinese spy She Zhijiang in the Al Jazeera documentary, Hontiveros said.
She said Wang was connected to Jinjiang Yuxi Association, which is said to be part of the united front work of the Communist Party of China, and his false identification as Filipino in the Securities and Exchange Commission.
(I do not judge Li Duan Wang as guilty of any crime… but these red flags are enough to prevent him from being granted Philippine citizenship so easily.)
