Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, a supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, endorsed Republican Senator Rick Scott for Senate majority leader on Sunday.
The tech executive voicing his support for Scott amid the leadership contest took to X and said: “Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!”
This endorsement followed Scott’s response to the President-elect’s statement on X: “Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!), without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner. Sometimes the votes can take two years, or more. This is what they did four years ago, and we cannot let it happen again. We need positions filled IMMEDIATELY!” Trump posted on X.
“Additionally, no Judges should be approved during this period of time because the Democrats are looking to ram through their Judges as the Republicans fight over Leadership. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THANK YOU!” he added.
Scott replied “100% agree,” adding that “I will do whatever it takes to get your nominations through as quickly as possible.”
Musk responding to Trump’s post, replied: “This is essential. There is no other way.”

The Florida Senator, previously a healthcare executive and currently the Senate’s most affluent member, received this support from Musk.
The endorsement came on July 13, coinciding with the day the former president survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, sustaining an ear injury.
Rick Scott is vying for the role of Senate Republican leader, competing against Senators John Thune (South Dakota) and John Cornyn (Texas) to succeed Mitch McConnell, who is stepping down after nearly 20 years as GOP leader.
All three candidates are actively seeking Donald Trump’s endorsement, striving to demonstrate their loyalty to the president-elect while campaigning for the top Senate position.
During a Fox News interview, Scott emphasised for significant change in the Senate, stating, “We can’t keep doing what we’re doing. That’s what Donald Trump got elected to do, to be the change.”
Scott has gained support from several hard-right Republican senators, but it remains uncertain whether he can win over Republican moderates. Republicans will vote on their new leader in the Senate on Wednesday.
