The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is now crafting a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Denmark, which will provide Filipino healthcare professionals access to upskilling programs.
The proposed MOU will cover Filipino nursing professionals and healthcare assistants, who are interested to working in Denmark.
“This MOU will solidify the partnership and facilitate future collaborations in healthcare training and recruitment,” DMW said in a statement.
The agreement is expected to “enhance the education and training of Filipino healthcare professionals, ensuring they meet Denmark’s high standards in medical and elderly care.”
It also ensure adequate welfare and social protection for Filipino healthcare workers in Denmark through “fair, ethical, and sustainable recruitment practices.”
“Key areas of cooperation include developing upskilling programs for Filipino nurses and healthcare assistants and establishing a streamlined recruitment process,” DMW said.
“The agreement also ensures protection for these workers upon arrival in Denmark, including support for employment rights and social security, in accordance with Danish labor standards,” it added.
Last Monday, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Michael Skjold Mellbin signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) establishing the Joint Committee for the negotiations of the proposed MOU.
The negotiations is expected to be concluded within 12 months.
