A PERSON deprived of liberty (PDL) was dead while two others were wounded in a stabbing incident inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Thursday morning, January 2, 2024.
In a statement, the Bureau of Correction (Bucor) said the incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. at Gate 1-A, Quadrant 4 of the Maximum Security Camp of the NBP.
The Bucor has withheld the names of those involved in the incident until their families have been informed.
“This approach emphasizes the Bureau’s commitment to maintaining dignity and respect for the families of the PDLs affected by this unfortunate event,” it said.
The agency has ordered all superintendents of all operating prison and penal farms to take precautionary measures to ensure that no retaliation will transpire at their respective jurisdictions following the incident, as well as to ensure the safety of both PDLs and staff. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
