THE police have confirmed reports about a shooting incident in which a father shot his two children before killing himself in Barangay Buntis, Bacong, Negros Oriental.
According to Police Major Vann Joel Tingson, chief of the Bacong Police Station, the family had previously resided in Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City, but a Barangay Protection Order was issued because of marital issues.
Around 10 a.m. Thursday, December 5, the father went to the house in Barangay Buntis and asked his estranged wife for permission to borrow their two daughters, aged 5 and 3. His request was denied.
Shortly afterward, the father pulled out a 9mm gun, shot the three-year-old and then the five-year-old before turning the gun on himself.
The five-year-old child and the father died on the spot, while the three-year-old was rushed to the hospital and is said to be in critical condition. (AYB)
