THE Anti-drug operations across Iloilo City, Iloilo province, and Bacolod City on December 12 and 13, 2024, resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs valued at over P1 million.
These operations were part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified campaign against illegal drugs and other criminal activities in the region.
In Iloilo, the Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 6 conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation on December 13, 2024, at around 8:18 a.m. at Sunset Boulevard, Barangay Sooc, Arevalo District.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspect identified as alias Peryong, 48, a resident of Barangay Sta. Rita, Oton, Iloilo. Peryong, who is tagged as a street-level individual (SLI), was found with approximately 35 grams of suspected shabu, worth P238,000, packed in seven plastic sachets.
Police Regional Office (PRO 6) in Western Visayas Director, Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, praised the efforts of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), emphasizing their commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in the region.
“Despite our successful operations, we will not stop until those involved in illegal activities are brought to justice,” Wanky said.
Meanwhile, in Balasan, Iloilo, an anti-drug operation conducted by the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) on December 12, 2024, at around 10:40 p.m. in Barangay Tingui-an, resulted in the arrest of alias Edgar, 31, of Barangay Gogo, Estancia, Iloilo.
The suspect, classified as a high-value individual (HVI), was found in possession of approximately 66 grams of suspected shabu, worth P448,000. A caliber .38 revolver with five live cartridges was also recovered during the operation.
Wanky commended the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) for their continuous efforts and urged them to remain vigilant.
“Keep pursuing those involved in the illegal drug trade. We need to ensure the safety of the people so they can sleep soundly at night,” he added.
In Bacolod City, a joint anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Police Station 8, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas (PDEA 6) on December 12, 2024, at 12:47 p.m., led to the arrest of four individuals.
The suspects, identified as alias Von, 29; alias Noel, 24; alias Joy, 21; and alias Angie, 19, were caught in possession of approximately 60 grams of suspected shabu, worth P408,000. The operation took place in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
Wanky acknowledged the collaborative efforts behind the operation and emphasized the importance of partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the community.
“This successful operation reflects the dedication and commitment of our personnel. It is our fervent aspiration that every community in the region becomes free of the illegal drug menace,” Wanky stated.
The suspects arrested in the Iloilo City, Balasan, and Bacolod City operations are now in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
