A total of 59 POGO workers were nabbed in a hub by agents from the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
NBI Director Jimmy Santiago said those arrested were 55 Chinese nationals, three Malaysians and one Filipino and that the operation was done after the NBI served a search warrant against the said POGO workers in connection with a case of ‘syndicated estafa’ and online illegal gambling, in relation to Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Seized were 50 computers and pieces of evidence in the POGO hub which had been set up in two rooms of the warehouses measuring a total of two hectares.
Santiago said the NBI applled in court for a cyber warrant to allow the NBI Digital Forensics to examine the contents of the computers and know if they were being used for POGO activities.
The NBI operatives also reportedly found a room which is apparenlty being prepared to become part of the said POGO hub’s expansion.
