The US has reported its first confirmed case of clade Ib mpox in a person who is thought to have become infected while travelling and is experiencing mild illness.1
In an announcement on 16 November, officials from the county of San Mateo in California said that the person is “isolating at home and recovering” and there is “no concern or evidence that mpox clade I is currently spreading in San Mateo county or elsewhere in the US.”
