THE Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) is expanding its network of deputized agents in the region through a series of recent deputation seminars aimed at strengthening its traffic law enforcement capabilities.
Over the past four months, the agency has trained and deputized more than 100 new agents from various law enforcement and government agencies, bringing its total number of deputized personnel to 368.
In an update released on December 20, 2024, LTO 7 announced that its latest deputation seminar, held this month, involved 20 personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas (PCG 7) and two from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Central Visayas (LTFRB 7).
“With this development, the agency has conducted multiple deputation seminars for over 100 qualified agents over the last four months to partner with the LTO in the implementation of traffic laws,” read a portion of the statement.
These seminars are part of an ongoing effort to forge partnerships with other agencies to enhance traffic law enforcement across the region.
LTO 7 Director Glen Galario highlighted the importance of these collaborations, expressing his gratitude for the support shown by partner agencies.
“With guidance from our LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza, we’ve been able to conduct these seminars to strengthen our enforcement efforts,” Galario said.
He also noted that while he had recommended deputation orders for the new agents, final approval rests with Mendoza.
In November, 20 personnel from the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group-Central Visayas were also deputized following the approval of their deputation orders by ASec. Mendoza.
However, these orders are pending the issuance of deputation IDs, which are to be signed by the LTO chief.
LTO 7 has also been proactive in supporting local law enforcement. A deputation seminar for Cebu City Transportation Office personnel was held on December 5 and 6, while in October, 80 new applicants from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) underwent deputation training.
There are 71 existing PRO 7 deputized agents participated in a refresher course to ensure they are up-to-date on the latest traffic regulations. (CDF)
