Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially revealed the new PlayStation 5 Pro which is the company’s “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date.”
According to the PlayStation Blog announcing the new console, the PlayStation 5 Pro will run with higher graphics and smoother frame rates, specifically with an upgraded GPU enabling 45% faster rendering for gameplay, advanced ray tracing for more dynamic light reflection and refraction, and the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution that makes everything more detailed onscreen.
Even more exciting is its improved stability, performance, and image quality of “more than 8,500” backward compatible PS4 games.
The blog also notes that games will be releasing software updates to take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s advanced features, such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and more.
PS5 Pro is already expected to launch on November 7, 2024, and will be available for preorder on September 26, 2024, at US$699.99 SRP (approximately PHP 39,000+).
It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and Astro’s Playroom already pre-installed. It is also a disc-less console but you can purchase the PS5 Disc Drive separately.
What people are saying about it
Upon the announcement of the new PlayStation 5 Pro, not a lot of gamers seem happy with the SRP. Some say that a jump from US$400, which was the launch price of the disc-less PS5 console, to US$700 for the PS5 Pro is way too high.
Others are particularly upset that this is the price of the PS5 Pro and it doesn’t even come with a disc drive or a vertical stand.
“I’ll be waiting for the PS6 [instead],” one commenter said.
