When in Singapore, here’s something you should add to your Singapore itinerary—and it’s perfect for all ages.
ArtScience Museum in Singapore is where you can visit many intriguing exhibits that usually stay open to the public for a few weeks before a new exhibit takes place. While these monthly exhibits are worth watching out for, the museum’s permanent exhibit is also a must-visit—and there’s a reason why it’s a mainstay.
The Future World exhibit of the ArtScience Museum was created in collaboration with teamLab, the same company who created the world-famous immersive museums in Japan and other parts of the world.
The exhibit features 12 interactive and immersive installations that are related to the connection between humans and nature.
We had the chance to check it out and here are some of the unforgettable installations at Future World:
Transcending Boundaries artworks
The first room you enter in Future World features 6 artworks that are on display on all walls and on the floor. It is a stunning room with fluttering butterflies and colorful flowers floating all around. It will make you feel like you’re part of the artworks.
Of course, be prepared to take lots and lots of photos in this room!
A Musical Wall Where Little People Live
Going further inside the exhibit, you’ll find a room with three fun installations. One of these is A Musical Wall Where Little People Live. On the wall are digital “little people” and cutouts of objects such as mushrooms, houses, sticks, and bricks. Guests can move the objects around the wall and watch other digital objects materialize—and the digital “little people” will interact with them, too!
It’s loads of fun watching the cute chaos of this little digital world unravel in front of your eyes, especially when you can interact with them as well.
Sketch Aquarium & Sketch Flight
This is one installation that will probably take up a lot of your time inside the museum, only because it is too fun!
In the Sketch Aquarium, you can color in or design different kinds of fish and sea creatures, have it scanned, then you’ll see a digital version of your fish/sea creature floating in the giant digital aquarium on the walls.
It’s so fun taking the time to color your chosen fish/sea creature and watching them swim around on the LED aquarium. And yes, you can color and design as many as you want.
You can do the same thing with airplanes, birds, and hawks in the next installation, Sketch Flight, and watch them fly around a digital city.
Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds
This colorful and possibly mind-bending installation will make you get on your feet and move a little more than usual.
The installation features colorful horizontal bars suspended by rope to make it look like they’re floating in space. Guests are invited to cross the installation by carefully walking across the horizontal bars. And with the moving space-like projections around the installation, and you’ll feel like you’re on a colorful spacewalk.
PS. Closed shoes are required to be able to do this activity.
Crystal Universe
The Crystal Universe is Future World’s last installation. It lets you walk through thousands of bright lights, all of them rhythmically moving together to put on a stunning light show.
As you walk through the path between all the lights, it’s like walking among the stars!
You’ll get lots of stunning photos in this installation, and we’re sure you’ll be mesmerized with the light show just as much as we were.
