Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis set new world records and Canada’s Marco Arop ran to a meeting record on Sunday at a Diamond League event in Silesia, Poland.
Ingebrigtsen won the men’s 3,000 metres event in a world-record time of seven minutes 17.55 seconds.
The time eclipses the previous mark of 7:20.67, set by Kenya’s Daniel Komen in 1996.
Ingebrigtsen’s previous personal best in the distance was 7:23.63.

Duplantis, having already sealed a win in the men’s pole vault competition in Silesia with a height of six metres, leapt to a new world record of 6.26 metres.
The Swedish pole vault phenom owned the previous record of 6.25m which he set at the Paris Olympic Games.
Canadian sets meet record in 800
Arop, of Edmonton, rushed out to the front of the men’s 800m race and comfortably won the event in a meet-record time of 1:41.86.
The 25-year-old reigning world champion held off the reigning Olympic champion, Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who finished in 1:43.23 for a second-place result.

The two runners had just battled in an 800m race on Thursday at the Diamond League stop in Lausanne. Wanyonyi came out on top in Switzerland with a world-leading, and personal-best time of 1:41.11 at the non-official Diamond League event.
