Counting down to the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, we got the opportunity to come to Korea thanks to Globe. We also got to join the virtual press con thanks to Disney where the stars of the film, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, along with director Shawn Levy talk about what making the movie was like.

Hugh Jackman is ecstatic to be back in Korea, particularly with this movie and this character that he has been playing for 25 years. “I am so proud of how the film came out, and I am so thrilled to be back in a role I didn’t think I would play again,” he raves. “I embrace it with all my heart, and I have never been more proud of a movie that Wolverine is in.”

As for Ryan, he says the Deadpool character, franchise, and making the movies represent perseverance to him. After all, it took 10 years to get the first movie made. “My dream for the last six years was to be able to do a movie with these guys, and it was not easy to get them to say yes to this,” he reveals.

Apparently, it was very, very difficult to convince Marvel that this would be the way to introduce Deadpool & Wolverine into the MCU universe from the X-Men universe. Ryan did not back down though, reaffirming the idea that you have to stick to what you believe in.

What’s more, he got to do it with two of his closest friends that he hangs out with every single day of their lives. “I love them as I do my own brothers, probably more,” he jokes. “It’s not just something fans wanted to see for a decade or more. It’s something we wanted to do for just as long.”

Shawn adds, “I think all of us, we have embraced these iconic heroes and these actors for years and years and years, and so to be able to unify them in a story that has action and humor and heart, and to make a summer blockbuster movie, all of us together, putting these iconic heroes on screen for the first time, costarring in a movie, that’s a privilege for any director.”

“What is at the heart of this movie is friendship,” Hugh points out, “and this duo that is just such a classic one that fans have loved for so many years in the comic books. Being able to bring it on the screen through the MCU is such a dream.”

“I’m just extremely excited for you to see this whole movie in just a few weeks,” says Shawn. Make sure to mark your calendars for July 24, 2024 for Deadpool & Wolverine!
