At least seven people, including four children, were injured after a gunman opened fire on victims, who are believed to be Hispanic in Nebraska. The gunman told the victims “to go back to where they came from and to speak English”
The suspect, Billy Booth, 74, was later found dead inside his house, after firing shots at neighbors, Nebraska State police said.
There were about 15 people inside and outside the home, though most of the victims were outside when they were shot. Three of the victims were adults between the ages of 22 and 43 while four were children ranging in age from 3 to 10, police told KETV and NBC News.
According to ABC News, the shooting occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on a
residential property on Crestline Drive in Crete.
Police said they did not believe there was a dispute which led to the shooting but that Booth and the family had a prior history- as well as a report from someone who said the suspect “told them to go back to where they came from and to speak English.”
“It appears that all the victims of the shooting will survive,” Nebraska State Patrol Captain Sean Caradori said during a news conference Friday.
Colonel John A Bolduc of Nebraska State Patrol confirmed on Saturday during a press conference that multiple rounds were fired by the suspect from inside his house. but could not confirm the exact number of shots, ABC News reported.
