However, the responsibility for environmental protection and sustainability falls on all stakeholders, including airlines, which contribute over 2% of global CO2 emissions. Recognizing this, AirAsia Philippines emphasizes the importance of reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to minimize their carbon footprint.

Speaking at the 2024 Philippine Tourism and Hotel Investment Summit, AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla highlighted that the development of technological infrastructure, policies, regulations, investment opportunities, and technical capabilities for SAF are still in their early stages in the Philippines.

In the meantime, AirAsia Philippines has implemented several proactive measures to ensure sustainability. These include fleet management through the use of more efficient aircraft like the A321neo and the optimization of aircraft operations through Green Flight Operations. Additionally, AirAsia has taken small steps to promote sustainability on all flights, encouraging guests to bring reusable flasks, coffee cups, and utensils onboard.

AirAsia Philippines also welcomes the Civil Aeronautics Board’s (CAB) decision to lower the Fuel Surcharge from Level 6 to Level 5 for July.

For the past five months, the Fuel Surcharge remained at Level 6. The reduction to Level 5 means guests can expect lower fees, ranging from PHP 151.00 to PHP 542.00 for domestic flights and between PHP 498.03 to PHP 3,703.11 for international flights, depending on the destination.

As the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for 14 consecutive years, AirAsia Philippines remains committed to mitigating the impact of the Fuel Surcharge by offering the lowest fares through initiatives like the monthly Double Digit Sale and Flash Sale. These and other exciting offers via the AirAsia MOVE App and airasia.com are designed to entice more guests to fulfill their travel goals towards the end of 2024.
