The Kapuso Primetime Queen takes on a surprising role in “Balota,” Marian Rivera’s new and upcoming movie. A far cry from her usual polished look that we see on her feed and grid, Marian Rivera’s character in “Balota” sparks major curiosity!

In the photos Marian Rivera shared on her official Facebook page, the actress looked battered and bloody in a teacher’s uniform, seemingly lost in the woods. She even shared a close-up of her grime-covered nails, hinting at a fight for survival.

More “Balota” stills were unveiled from a social media post by GMA Assistant Vice President for Drama Helen Rose Sese, showing Marian Rivera holding a ballot box in desolate locations, fueling the mystery surrounding her character’s journey.

“Balota” pits a land-grabbing tycoon against a former male sexy actor in a heated mayoral race for a small town. Marian Rivera stars as Emmy, a teacher caught in the chaos. As tensions boil over into violence, Emmy flees into the wilderness clutching the last copy of the election results.

Written and directed by Kip Oebanda, “Balota” will be screening at the Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 2 to 11, 2024.

Aside from Marian Rivera, “Balota” cast members include content creators Esnyr and Sassa Gurl, who also shared behind-the-scenes photos as soon as filming wrapped up.
