The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) seeking to enhance their cooperation and coordination on efforts in maritime areas.
According to the NBI, the agreement signifies their commitment to strengthen efforts in maritime areas including the detection, investigation, and prosecution of maritime-related crimes.
It said the agreement also signifies their commitment to enhance their efficiency in suppressing crimes, both land and marine within the country’s jurisdiction.
The NBI said that among the initiatives under the MOA are collaborative partnerships with local sectors, organizations, and other government agencies.
During the signing, the NBI was represented by NBI Director Medardo de Lemos while the PCG was represented by PCG Admiral Ronnie Gil Lavan. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA Integrated News
