Ahead of the release of his official report on the sudden demise of the much-admired TV health guru Dr Michael Mosley, a Greek coroner has shared his preliminary assessment with local media, suggesting what he believes to be the “most likely” cause behind the British presenter’s unexpected death while vacationing on the island of Symi.

Dr Mosley vanished from a beach on the picturesque island around 1.30pm on Wednesday, during an intense Mediterranean heatwave. He had walked to a nearby village before embarking on a hike across rugged terrain.

Tragically, just a few hours later, CCTV footage captured from a restaurant at Agios Marina beach showed the esteemed TV doctor navigating down a rocky incline, before disappearing from view.

The enigma that shrouds the 67 year old father of four’s passing is compounded by the baffling circumstances of how he ended up lying next to a fence, mere metres away from a bustling tourist location. The coroner tasked with investigating his death has pointed to extreme fatigue as a probable factor in the tragic conclusion to Dr Mosley’s life.

Speaking to the Greek publication Ta Nea about the incident in Symi, Coroner Grigoris Leon stated: “The most likely thing in these conditions is for a person of this age to walk under the sun and in a rocky environment, at some point the body will be exhausted.”

In anticipation of his comprehensive findings, he informed the journalist: “The most likely cause of death is from natural causes.”

Hellenic Police have clarified their stance on the mysterious death of a British doctor found near Agia Marina beach, reports the Mirror, stating: “It is emphasised that from the preliminary investigation material so far, it does not appear that the British presenter fell from a height.”

Greek officials were in the hot seat after allegations surfaced that they received crucial CCTV footage showing the final moments of the deceased health expert four days before his body was located. Refuting the claim, they stated: “The reality is that the video footage came into the possession of the Greek Police after the body was found.”

A police insider disclosed to the Mirror that current evidence makes it challenging to pinpoint the exact cause of death for the 67-year-old due to the body’s severe decomposition.

They revealed: “The way the body was positioned suggests that first he sat down and then he died. There is no indication that he was hit by something in the head for example, or that he collapsed while walking.”
