The Department of Energy (DOE) is expecting Luzon Grid to have enough power supply this week after some areas experienced rotational brownouts over the weekend.
A report on Unang Balita on Tuesday quoted DOE Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan as saying that Pagbilao Unit 2 and Quezon power plant will return to full capacity this week.
Currently, 16 power plants in Luzon are not operating while six are running on derated capacity.
Around 2 million Meralco customers were affected by rotational brownouts in the National Capital Region as well as in parts of Central Luzon and Calabarzon over the weekend.
This was after Luzon Grid was placed under red alert by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
