Ukrainian ‘face of the war’ slams Putin as her city is under attack again from missiles and kamikaze drones

DEFIANT teacher Olena Kurylo refuses to be cowed by Vladimir Putin’s latest assault on her city.

Olena, 54, became the “face of the war” after Russian troops attacked Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, in 2022.

It is now under attack again from missiles and kamikaze drones.

But Olena, whose home was destroyed in 2022’s blitz, said: “The mental, ugly, impotent old man, the deranged maniac Putin, who tries to extend his life by sucking the blood of others, will get nothing from us.

“We’ve got to stand up to him.

“Even if the walls of my bathroom where I’ve been spending so many nights are the last thing I’ll see.”

Russia claimed it had hit military targets.

But damage was caused to residential areas.

A girl, 11, and woman, 72, were wounded.
