The US Supreme Court heard oral arguments on 24 April that emergency abortions should be allowed in states with strict abortion bans.

An emergency abortion is a rare procedure carried out to save a woman’s life or to protect her health. Questions by conservative justices suggested the court might rule against permitting such abortions when it gives its ruling in June or early July.1
