UN CHINESE LANGUAGE DAY: CELEBRATING CULTURAL DIVERSITY The 15th UN Chinese Language Day celebrated the diverse richness of the Chinese language. The date for this celebration (20 April) was chosen from Guyu (“Rain of Millet”), the 6th of 24 solar terms in traditional East Asian calendars, to honor Cangjie, a significant figure in ancient China often credited as the official historian of the Yellow Emperor and the inventor of Chinese characters. Chinese became an official language of the United Nations in 1946. Today, over 180 countries teach Chinese, with 30 million learners worldwide, promoting cultural exchange and enriching global heritage. | 📸 Chinese Embassy #DailyTribune #ChineseLanguageDay
