Globe’s Global Expansion of 5G Connectivity

Globe has significantly expanded its 5G coverage across the Philippines and globally, adding 894 new sites by the end of last year. This marks a significant stride toward improving digital connectivity and empowering Filipinos worldwide.

In 2023, Globe achieved outdoor coverage of 97.90% in the National Capital Region and 92.36% in key cities across Visayas and Mindanao. This progress led to over 5.8 million devices being connected to Globe’s 5G network in December 2023 alone.

Strategically, Globe has adjusted its spending on new 5G sites, taking into account current market conditions and the pursuit of viable use cases that fully leverage the potential of 5G technology. This approach underscores the company’s dedication not only to advancing technology but also to ensuring its sustainable and strategic deployment.

Moreover, Globe has expanded its 5G roaming partnerships, now totaling 156 global partners across 82 destinations. With the inclusion of Nigeria in partnership with MTN, Mauritius via Cellplus, and an anticipated collaboration with Kenya through Africell, Globe now boasts the most extensive presence in Africa.

In Asia, Globe has extended its reach to Kazakhstan and Laos through partnerships with Tele2 and LaoTel, respectively.

Furthermore, Globe has established 5G roaming partnerships in Germany with Emnify and E-Plus Mobilfunk, Hong Kong through China Unicom, Korea via LG Uplus, Malaysia in partnership with Cellcom and YTL, Norway through Mobile Norway, Sweden with Tele2 and COM4, and Thailand via DTAC.

Additionally, international visitors in the Philippines can experience 5G speeds through Globe’s collaborations with international networks such as Dialog in Sri Lanka, Orange in Egypt, and Manx Telecom in the Isle of Man.
