A consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist has been allowed back on the medical register on his third attempt, 13 years after his erasure.

Medhat Keshta was struck off in 2011 for giving the NHS trust which employed him as a locum consultant a letter containing falsehoods in support of his claim for a higher salary, and then claiming special leave for a back problem when in reality he planned to take a higher paying job at another trust.

The tribunal that struck him off found that he had produced a letter in late 2009, allegedly obtained by a colleague at a trust where he had previously worked, misstating his pay in that job to justify his request for a pay rise at his then employer, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
