The diagnostics company Randox Health has removed advertisements for its type 1 diabetes genetic test after receiving complaints that it was using fear and stoking anxiety to push its product.
The adverts, displayed in London Underground stations, referred to type 1 diabetes as “the silent killer” that “may hide in your genes.” They promoted a test that they claimed could “determine your future risk of developing” the condition.
