This is the moment the windscreen of a Philippines supply boat shattered during an attack by the Chinese coast guard in the South China Sea. The ship was trying to reach the remote Second Thomas Shoal, a reef that legally belongs to the Philippines but is claimed by Beijing. The Chinese coast guard were dispatched to stop the mission, firing water cannon at the Philippines vessel and causing the windscreen to explode inwards, showering the crew with water and broken glass.
It is not the first time the two nations have clashed over the shoal, and is made more dangerous by the fact that the US and Philippines have a defence pact, meaning the US will get involved if its ally is attacked. #Philippines #china #ship
