Kalibo Mayor released Official statement over the Use of the term “Sadsad” in Iloilo’s Dinagyang

Kalibo Mayor Juris B Sucro of LGU-Bagong Kalibo issued an official statement calling for an open and respectful dialogue among parties concerned regarding the issue on the use of the term “Sadsad” by the National Museum-Iloilo in relation to the celebration of Dinagyang Festival.

The Honorable Mayor of Kalibo, Aklan emphasizes that while the term extends beyond the geographical boundaries of the province, it is worthy to note that the term embodies and defines the cultural identity of Aklanon Community and that it is part of the intangible attributes attached to the people of Aklan that connects to their tradition and annual Ati-Atihan celebrations.
