The White house is expected to re-designate Yemen’s Houthi rebels as a terrorist organization starting next month. This comes amid the groups continued attacks targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
The Houthis had previously been labeled a foreign terrorist organization under President Trump, but the Biden administration removed the label due to concerns that kept foreign aid from reaching the people of Yemen.
Tuesday, the US military launched a new round of airstrikes targeting the Houthis, it came on the third straight day the group had fired at passing ships.
