The ongoing construction/renovation in the 2nd floor of the house located at Mahabang Nayon Street, Brgy Bahay Toro, Quezon City ended in a misfortune after the structure has collapsed which resulted in the death of one construction worker and injured another laborer/helper.
Personnel of Project 6 Police Station 15, QCPD, together with BFP SAR team and QCDRRMO Rescue team responded to the call for assistance past midnight of January 6, 2024 to retrieve one of the victims who was reportedly under the rubbles of the collapsed concrete structure. Initial investigation showed that the house was built with only three weak concrete beam foundations, which apparently were not able to hold and carry the load of the entire house.
The victims were identified as ELEAZAR TALARION y DELA CRUZ, 38y/o with live in partner, construction worker (Deceased) and one CARLO VILLAFRANCA y RAMOS, 23y/o, single, construction worker (Admitted at QCGH for injuries) and two other companions/laborers who were also working in the first floor of the house, but were able to jump out after sensing that the structure started to tilt.
Police authorities are looking for a certain JAY-JAY ESCOBER, 26y/o, single, owner of the house, who has since went into hiding after the incident. QCPD-CIDU is now handling the case.
Accordingly, the statement of the live-in partner of the deceased victim was already taken and appropriate charges will be filed against the owner once the complaining party decide to file criminal negligence and civil damages.
