Despite this, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that they will not let their guard down and will even intensify police visibility especially in areas where people are expected to flock such as markets and grocery stores.

Pero hindi tayo nagku-kumpyansa,” she said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(We haven’t received any serious threat so far that may disrupt or spoil the New Year celebration. But our guard is still up.)

(Don’t use illegal fireworks. We can welcome the New Year by using harmless things to make noise such as trumpets, our car horns, or banging pots and pans.)

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, New Year’s Eve, logged an additional eight cases of firecracker-related injuries, bringing the total number of victims this holiday season to 115.
