PNP disposes of illegal fireworks confiscated in QC, Laguna

The Philippine National Police disposed of illegal fireworks that were seized from various operations.

According to Jonathan Andal’s report on “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday, various illegal fireworks confiscated by the Quezon City Police District were immediately destroyed and buried in the ground. 

The Calabarzon Police also destroyed illegal fireworks worth P3 million in Laguna.

In a separate operation on Thursday, almost P40,000 worth of illegal fireworks were seized.

A suspect was arrested and detained at the Los Baños Police Station.

Selling firecrackers online is also strictly prohibited.

In Dinalupihan, Bataan, an online seller and some of his associates were apprehended in an operation.

Several packages of fireworks, including ‘’sawa’’ and piccolo, were seized from them.

The suspects, who will face charges, did not issue a statement.

“As of kagabi ay umabot na po ng 31,000 mahigit po ang nakumpiska po natin na mga ilegal na paputok. At nasa 36 na po na insidente at operation ang ating inilunsad at 12 na po ang naaresto natin,” said PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo.

(As of last night, we had confiscated 31,000 pieces of illegal fireworks. We have conducted 36 operations, which resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals.)

“Sa online po, nasa 6 na po ang ating na-operate po at may mga nakuha na rin po tayong mga tao diyan,” she added. 

(We have conducted six operations against the online sale of fireworks, and we have apprehended some of those involved.)

In Naga City, a vendor was seen in a video cooking food a few meters away from fireworks stores.

The vendor explained that although she was aware that using fire close to the fireworks stores was not permitted, her customers insisted on it. 

It was also discovered that she was selling cigarettes, and there were also smokers in the area.
