Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rebuffed on Sunday (December 10) international calls to end the Gaza war, describing them as inconsistent with supporting the war-aim of eliminating Hamas.
Briefing his cabinet in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said he had told the leaders of France, Germany and other countries they could not pressure Israel to agree to a ceasefire as it would prevent “the elimination of Hamas.”
Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for his administration’s veto of a UN Security Council resolution urging a ceasefire in Gaza, and for its approval of a shipment of ammunition for the use of the Israeli army.
