Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky visited an airfield at an undisclosed location on Sunday (August 6) to congratulate airmen and women who are fighting Russia’s invasion and to inspect Soviet-made aircraft carrying what appeared to be Anglo-French Storm Shadow missiles.

He emblazoned ‘Glory to Ukraine’ with a felt pen on a missile that bore a sticker with Ukraine’s coat of arms and the Eiffel tower intertwined, and the French name for the Storm Shadow missile, SCALP-EG, written on it.

He also inspected two western-supplied air defence systems, Patriot and Iris T-SLM, that were on display on an undisclosed airfield.

The visit comes as Russia said a Ukrainian missile strike had damaged the Chonhar road bridge linking mainland Ukraine to Crimea on Sunday (August 6), Russia’s RIA news agency cited the Moscow-appointed head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, as saying.
