US President Biden said that he won’t invite Netanyahu to the White House “in the near term” during an interview on Tuesday. Biden appeared to criticise Netanyahu’s decisions regarding the proposed judicial overhaul which led to mass protests and strikes that brought Israel to a standstill.
Netanyahu responded with a statement later on in the day, stating that “Israel is a sovereign country which makes its decisions by the will of its people and not based on pressures from abroad, including from the best of friends.”
The rare public dispute between the two leaders puts a strain on the relationship of the closely allied countries
