In Iloilo, police operatives from the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS) seized approximately 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P2,040,000 during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Pagsangaan, Pavia on December 11, at 3:48 p.m.
The suspects, identified as alias Manong, 49, a high-value individual (HVI) and resident of Barangay Bakhaw Manduriao District, Iloilo City, and alias Lyn, 45, a jobless resident of Sibulan, Negros Oriental, were arrested during the operation.
The authorities recovered seven plastic sachets and five knot-tied plastics containing suspected illegal drugs. The operation was supported by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas (RDEU 6), the Iloilo Maritime Police Station, and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo) – Drug Enforcement Unit.
PRO 6 Director Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the combined efforts of the police units involved.
“This significant accomplishment shows the relentless effort of our police units to identify and arrest those involved in the illegal drug trade. In our endeavor to stop the proliferation of these illegal substances, partnerships with the community and different stakeholders will be strengthened,” Wanky said.
In a separate operation, The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) – Drug Enforcement Unit successfully conducted an anti-drug operation in Purok Nami-Nami, Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, on December 12, at 5:41 a.m.
The operation led to the arrest of alias Sal, 24, a jobless resident of Barangay 31, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental and the seizure of approximately 675 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P4,590,000.
The operation was supported by personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas (PDEA 6).
Wanky again commended the efforts of the law enforcement teams.
“Let’s maintain the intensity of our campaign against these illegal drug peddlers and conduct in-depth investigations to determine if this suspect has cohorts in his illegal drug activity,” Wanky said.
The suspects are now under police custody and face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
