THIS is the haunting moment Israeli soldiers battled Hamas terrorists in close-range fighting during last year’s horror terror attack.
New footage from October 7 has been released by the IDF and shows how the troops battled the militants in house to house fighting.
Barbaric Hamas fighters stormed dozens of Israeli kibbutzes near the Gaza border and killed 1,200 people, including 380 security forces.
The series of clips begins with a civilian treating an injured soldier’s hand as him and a militiaman hide next to a wall for cover.
Next, one Hamas fighter sees the drone filming him and holds up his rifle letting off several rounds trying to take down the buzzard.
The drone also films IDF forces fighting next to a house as a large strike hits nearby, causing smoke to billow and trees to shake near the home.
Finally, the clip shows Israeli troops arriving in pick-up trucks and taking positions on banks and on the roadside as they prepared to expel Hamas’ terror fighters from their country.
In a statement with the video, the IDF said its forces moved south once the attack began and fought “shoulder to shoulder” with settlement defence forces.
They said: “On October 7, the forces of the Rabbi Mamdit unit (888) fought battles in the settlements and kibbutzim of Otaf including Erez, Urim, Reim, Bari, Alumim and Nahal Oz.
“In the heroic battle in Kibbutz Reim, in which dozens of terrorists were eliminated, the commander of the unit, the late Lt. Col. Roi Yosef Levy, and the commander of the unit’s training platoon, Capt. Yotam Ben Best, were killed.”
Hamas’ sick attack led to Israel invading the Gaza Strip and beginning its war with Iran’s terror proxies around the Middle East.
Its mission to wipe out Hamas resulted in tens of thousands of civilians killed by troops, local medical services claimed.
Israeli troops are on high alert for a sick attack by Hamas on the anniversary of October 7.
The IDF have confirmed they have strengthened forces on the Gaza border amid fears that Hamas could launch a rocket blitz.
The IDF said in a statement: “The Southern Command is prepared in defense and attack for several scenarios during the coming month, along with allowing memorial events in the [Gaza border communities] to be carried out safely.”
It comes after Hamas claimed responsibility for a terror attack at a railway station in Jaffa on Tuesday.
Seven innocent Israeli’s were slaughtered by the terror group as they went about their day and 16 people were injured.
The attack happened at the same time that Iran launched a barrage of 180 missiles directly at Israel.
Israel also faced another terror attack on Sunday, killing one woman and injuring 10 on the eve of the October 7 massacre.
Officials say the suspected terrorist was shot dead with other assailants still said to be on the run at the time of writing.
It is not yet clear who is behind the shocking violence.
The first anniversary of October 7 will be marked with Israel’s ongoing invasion of Lebanon as it seeks to cripple Hezbollah.
IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said Saturday forces had killed 440 Hezbollah fighters so far in their invasion of Lebanon.
But he warned Israel that Hamas could attack events being held to mark the October 7 anniversary.
Hagari said soldiers were “continuing to fight and operate in Lebanon” and two divisions are manoeuvring in urban and other terrains.
He added: “So far 2,000 Hezbollah targets have been destroyed,” he says.
“Our soldiers are collecting a lot of intel and many weapons from Hezbollah.”
Israel launched their ground offensive into Lebanon this week as they seek to cripple the Iran-backed terror group.
Iran responded to the invasion with a 180-missile barrage against Israel on Tuesday.
Fire lit up the sky across the country as the Iran’s rockets rained down and were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome system.
Israel is now set to respond – with experts believing it could strike Iran’s oil facilities – but it has also continued its air campaign in Lebanon.
How many hostages are still in Gaza?
ISRAEL believes around 101 hostages are still being held in Hamas’ evil clutches in Gaza.
At least 36 of them are feared to be dead with a total 97 hostages remaining unaccounted for after they were kidnapped by Hamas thugs a year ago.
While a further four people taken hostage in 2014 and 2015 are still being held.
According to Israeli figures, 251 Israelis and foreigners were abducted by Hamas on October 7 last year.
A group of hostages were released in November and another one in June.
