Female doctors have higher risk of suicide, study finds


Female doctors have a significantly higher risk of suicide than the general population despite suicide rates among doctors declining over time, research published in The BMJ has found.1

Researchers from the University of Vienna analysed 39 observational studies published from 1960 to March 2024 that compared suicide rates among doctors with that of the general population.
