The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) regional directors of the National Capital Region (NCR) and Central Luzon Field Offices briefed reporters on their disaster response operations as well as the recovery phase of Typhoon Carina-affected families during the Thursday Media Forum at the DSWD Central Office’s New Press Center in Quezon City.
NCR Regional Director Atty. Michael Joseph Lorico and Central Luzon Regional Director Venus Rebuldela provided the Media with significant information on the number of family food packs (FFPs) released to local government units (LGUs) affected by Carina; their FFPs stockpile; the available Quick Response Fund (QRF), and LGUs’ feedback on their disaster response operations.
During the August 21 DSWD budget hearing at the House of Representatives, RDs Lorico and Rebuldela were lauded by their respective congressmen for the swift response of their regional offices in bringing relief goods at the height of the flood brought by Typhoon Carina and habagat.
The Thursday Media Forum is organized by the Strategic Communications Group and hosted by Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Communications Raymond Robert Burgos and OIC of the Office of the Asst. Secretary for Strategic Communications (Strat Comm) and Agency Operations Service (AOS) Director Clarissa Lara Duran.
