Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5 – Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio has given recognition to former monitored children of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from Bicol who topped several licensure examinations.
“Kung titingnan po natin, marami pong mga topnotchers, nasa top 10, at marami na ring professional na dating anak ng ating 4Ps beneficiaries [from Bicol]. Ito po sana ay magsilbing inspiration sa 4.4 million beneficiaries po natin sa buong bansa na ang 4Ps ay patuloy na ipinatutupad ng DSWD dahil ang konsepto po nito ay to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through education and health,” FO-5 Regional Director Laurio told reporters at the DSWD Thursday Media Forum on November 7.
Sheena Mae Obispo, a former 4Ps-monitored child from Camalig town in Albay Province recently topped the Social Workers Licensure Examination (SWLE).
Obispo garnered the highest score of 87 percent in the SWLE administered by the Board for Social Workers in the National Capital Region (NCR), and in the cities of Baguio, Cebu, and Davao last September 16 to18.
“Kung matatandaan po natin, noong State of the Nation Address (SONA) ng ating Pangulo recently, yoon pong number one na nakakuha ng pinakamataas na score sa Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), sya po yung nakita natin sa SONA ni Presidente,” Director Laurio pointed out.
Another native of Albay, Aaron Paul Lolor, bagged the 4th spot in the Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination held in October, with a score of 86.60 percent.
Garnering a 91.75 percent score, James Llaguno from Daraga, Albay was announced as Top 6 in the October Forester Licensure Examination.
Director Laurio said former 4Ps-monitored children from Bicol also topped the LET- Elementary Level.
“Apat po na monitored children galing sa ating 4Ps beneficiaries sa Bicol Region ay nasa top 10 din,” Director Laurio told reporters.
Mylene Bontile and Ciara Jalimao, both from Camarines Norte province, are now licensed professional teachers after passing and grabbing the 6th and 8th spot, respectively in the March LET.
Pamela May Orolfo, also from Camarines Norte and Joshua Biliran from Masbate province also bagged the 8th and 10th spot, respectively in the March LET – Secondary Level.
Orolfo garnered a score of 91.20 percent while Biliran got a 90.80 percent score.
Since the DSWD started monitoring 4Ps children, the agency has recorded more than 36,000 former child-beneficiaries who have successfully passed various examinations.
Launched in 2008 and institutionalized by Republic Act No. 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfer to poor households for a maximum period of 7 years to improve their children’s health, nutrition and education.
