THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) successfully seized illegal drugs worth nearly P6 million and apprehended 47 suspects in anti-crime operations from January 26 to February 2, 2025.
According to DCPO acting director Police Colonel Hansel Marantan, 31 separate operations were carried out by various police stations resulting in the seizure of 879.332 grams of shabu valued at P5,979,457.60, along with 66.917 grams of marijuana worth P8,030.04.
In addition to drug busts, the police arrested 16 individuals in anti-gambling operations, seizing P5,189 in bet money. Efforts to track fugitives also paid off, with 41 arrests, including nine of the city’s most wanted persons.
The DCPO also intensified its crackdown on illegal firearms, filing charges against seven individuals and seizing seven illegal firearms during 16 operations. Seven additional firearms were surrendered as part of the “Oplan Katok” initiative.
Overall, Marantan reported that 111 people were arrested during this period, highlighting the DCPO’s commitment to reducing crime in the city.
“These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers,” Marantan said. “We will continue to intensify our efforts to rid our city of illegal activities while ensuring that all operations are conducted with respect for human rights and by police operational procedures.”
The DCPO chief also expressed his gratitude to barangay officials, the community, and the local government unit for their continued support.
