The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may delay the conduct of the 2025 elections, Bacolod Election Officer Atty. Revo Sorbito said on Monday.
Sorbito explained that there will be standby Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) at the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor, which can be used to replace defective units.
He added that an ACM can be declared defective based on issues with its vote-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) or if the screen flashes when a ballot is incorrectly shaded by a voter.
“We have contingency measures in place should any problems arise on the day of the election,” Sorbito assured.
Sorbito led the nationwide roadshow of the poll body on Monday at the Ayala Capitol Central Mall in Bacolod City. During the event, candidates, their representatives, and the public were given the opportunity to test the new ACMs. (TDE)
