The Commission on Elections on Saturday conducted simultaneous field tests in preparation for the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) and the BARMM Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
According to a statement, the field tests were conducted in Tipas Elementary School in Taguig, the Taguig Convention Center, and the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, among other areas.
“Ang gusto natin ipakita rito yung makina, yung mismong paghuhulog ng balota pa lang, pagbilang niya, pagsusumatotal, pagprint ng election returns, at pagtatransmit at kung effective ba yung transmission,” said Comelec Chairman George Garcia.
(We want to show the automated counting machine, how the ballots are entered into the machine, the counting of votes, the consolidation of results, the printing of election returns, and determine whether the transmission of the results is effective.)
Earlier, the Comelec announced that simultaneous field testings would take place in Batanes, Palawan, Tawi-Tawi, Davao del Sur, Manila, Taguig, and 64 barangays in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) in the Bangsamoro Region, as well as overseas precincts in Japan, Greece, Qatar, and the United States.
“Kung may apat [na presinto] sa isang munisipyo, ‘yung munisipyo na ‘yun may CCS (canvassing and consolidation system). So that ‘yung apat na presinto, magta-transmit sa CCS ng munisipyo na nandun located mismo kung saan gagawin ang canvassing. At the same time, ‘pag nag-transmit ang mismong munisipyo, nakatransmit ‘yan sa PPCRV server, NAMFREL server, central server, media server…at majority party, minority party [server],” Garcia said.
(If a municipality has four precincts, that municipality will have a CCS. So the four precincts will transmit to the CCS located where the canvassing will be done. At the same time, when the municipality transmits, it transmits to the PPCRV server, NAMFREL server, central server, media server, and servers of the majority and minority parties.) —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
