Iginiit ni Taiwan Pres. William Lai na hindi bahagi ng China at wala itong karapatan para maging kinatawan ng island territory.

Sa kanyang National Day address, nanindigan rin si Pres. Lai na ipagtatanggol niya ang soberanya at Kalayaan ng Taiwan laban sa pananakop ng China.
