ALL barangays in Cebu City were ordered to designate a fireworks zone in common areas where community fireworks display may be conducted during the holiday season.
Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, in his Executive Order 26 dated December 19, 2024, ordered the barangays to coordinate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in the identification and enforcement of designated fireworks zone in their respective communities.
The criteria for consideration of the designated fireworks zones include the population within the area, availability of emergency medical staff or first aid responders and necessary equipment, availability of firefighting equipment, safe distance of more than 100 feet (30 meters) away from residential areas, and factors that may be relevant to the safety of residents in the area.
Garcia also prohibited the staging of fireworks display in private households, residential areas, and hospitals.
Children are strictly prohibited from manufacturing, selling, distributing, and using all types of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices. (EHP)
