Bringing News as it Unfolds
When Wicked finally hit movie theaters last month, there was a hot debate about whether or not it is appropriate for moviegoers to break cinema etiquette entirely and sing along at screenings.
The discourse was so fierce that even the movie’s cast got involved, with Ethan Slater — who plays Boq — advising fans during an appearance on Today to wait for the official sing-along screenings in December. He said: “Maybe that’s the best venue for it.”
But Ariana’s mom, Joan Grande, might have a firmer stance on the whole thing, with Ariana revealing that her mom scolded her for talking and being on her phone during a private screening of the movie.
“I lost count,” she admitted. “I think I’m at 10. When I saw it with my nonna in Florida, I did check my phone a few times and my mom was like: ‘Ariana, get off your phone!’”
“I was like: ‘Mommy, not only have I seen it, but I’m in it!’ I was like: ‘I know what happens here. I think I can quickly check what was just sent to me!’” Ariana added. “She’s like: ‘Ariana, you’re talking!’”
Ariana previously revealed that she flew to her home city of Boca Raton, Florida, for just one day so that she could watch Wicked with her 99-year-old grandmother, Marjorie Grande, who is affectionately known as “Nonna.”
